Geospatial Intern (Paid Internship)

Required: Due to the nature of this role and government contract requirements, applicants must be U.S. citizens.

This position is based in St. Louis, Missouri and requires in-office presence. Candidates must reside or be willing to relocate to the St. Louis area. Relocation assistance is not provided. There is work from home flexibility available.

Position Overview

Each intern will be responsible for acquiring, analyzing, compiling, evaluating, and reviewing geospatial data for use in standard products, non-standard products, and/or data holdings in support of project requirements. The Intern will a tribute, exploit, extract, format, manipulate, position, and symbolize geospatial information, and will ensure the quality, accuracy, and currency of geospatial information produced in-house or in cooperation with suppliers for national, state, and local government, defense, and intelligence clients.

Work Location

This role is performed in-office at The Globe Building, 710 North Tucker Boulevard, Suite 304 St. Louis, MO 63101. Onsite work is required to support compliance needs, standardized tooling/configuration, and structured mentorship.

 

Work Schedule

Target: 29 hours per week (based on student availability).

Core hours required: 9:00am – 3:00pm CST, Monday – Thursday.

Additional hours may be scheduled around class/workload within reason and with manager approval.

 

Compensation

$18.00/hour starting rate.

Automatic increase to $19.00/hour after 60 calendar days, contingent upon meeting performance expectations (quality assurance accuracy, throughput against assigned task baselines, and reliability).

Onboarding and Training

Week 1 is paid onboarding and training and is conducted in-office.

Training concludes with a skills assessment to evaluate ArcGIS Pro fundamentals and readiness for production tasks. Continued employment is contingent upon meeting minimum performance expectations during/after the assessment period.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in GIS, Geography, Geospatial Science, or related field
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to recognize problems early and formulate resolutions
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365


Preferred Qualifications

  • Foundational understanding of Esri ArcGIS Pro interface and core functionality
  • Understanding of definition queries to filter data for analysis
  • Ability to perform attribute manipulation in both the Attribute Table and Attribute Pane
  • Knowledge of creating and editing vector features
  • Understanding of the ArcGIS Pro Table of Contents
  • Familiarity with selection methodologies (Select by Attribute, Select by Location)
  • Ability to manipulate symbology
  • Working knowledge of the ArcGIS Pro Navigate tab
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality
  • Effective communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong understanding of spatial and topologic relationships
